Since 4 April 2018, residential landlords are now affected by the legislation (HSWA (Asbestos) Regulations 2016) that deals with the safe removal and management of asbestos.
If your property was built between 1940 and 2000, it is possible it may contain asbestos and you should know if it does, where it is, how much of it is there, and importantly, the condition it is in.
If you do identify that your property contains asbestos, you must make sure the occupants of your property are not exposed to it. The next step is then to put together an Asbestos Management Plan to manage and deal with it.
